Reconciliation cannot be accomplished without recognition and Tanya Cromwell’s accomplishments in supporting the recognition of the artistic, cultural and historical influence of Black Canadians in Vancouver is worthy of recognition. A natural community builder as evidenced in her vocational and volunteer work, Tanya has demonstrated a strong commitment to educating and celebrating the achievements of Black Canadians in Vancouver. Her commitment is evidenced in her various volunteer roles including the Black History Month Committee, Black Dot Roots and Culture Collective, Rooted Theatre Productions, and the National Congress of Black Women. Tanya is an enthusiastic and tireless volunteer who actively participates in the celebration of our City’s diversity and her efforts often go unnoticed. It would be a fitting tribute to her considerable commitment over the years to be recognized for the 2014 Remarkable Women Award.
